Before the start of the research course, juniors need to have a strong foundation in academic writing. The textbook named "The Oxford Essential Guide to Writing" is used as the study material for the course. In addition to that, Assignments and part-time writings are included in the course to monitor the progress of the juniors. Through 3 weeks, the course is finished providing the needed foundation and basics for research.
This course focuses on introducing the student to the concept of research. It also provides the necessary training to write a research paper. At first, the mentor works with the juniors on research question choice. After choosing the research question, the mentor train the juniors on writing main outlines of their research paper.
The literature review is crucial for understanding the role it plays in research, identifying gaps in existing knowledge, and mastering search strategies and synthesis. Methodology is equally important, as it involves selecting the appropriate research design, data collection methods, and analysis techniques to ensure the research is robust and valid.
As the juniors are writing each outline in the research paper, their progress is monitored. As each section in the research paper is finished. It is sent to the mentor to review and give feedback. The mentors reviewing the research paper have a great experience in research.
After finishing each section in the paper, the juniors collect all the sections in one research paper which is sent to the mentor for review. If anything is wrong with the paper, the mentor contacts the junior and gives him the necessary feedback.
After the final review, The research papers are published in our journal. The journal is available for anybody interested in discovering biology. Besides the journal, the club also provide students with alternative ways to publish their research papers on various platforms.
